Ghanaian authorities have expressed outrage at some 200 Ghanaians seeking asylum in Brazil after the Black Stars of Ghana were eliminated from the ongoing FIFA World Cup. The Ghanaians seeking asylum have claimed they were fleeing religious conflict in their home country.
But the government of Ghana has denied the claims and launched investigations into the matter which it deems an embarrassment to Ghana. DW correspondent in Accra, Isaac Kaledzi also reports that Muslim clerics and ordinary Ghanaians are equally unhappy with asylum-seekers.
