The Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has died after loosing his battle to fight cancer. The announcement has just been made on TV by the country's vice president Nicolas Maduro. The 58-year-old president Chavez had not been seen in public since undergoing surgery in Cuba on Dec. 11, where he had his fourth operation since cancer was detected in his pelvic area in mid-2011.
