Wetlands may not be as sexy or eye-catching as coral reefs or lush rainforests but these diverse, complex landscapes play a vital ecological role. They perform a vast array of functions - from flood defense and water purification to even flavoring our whiskey. In honor of World Wetlands Day, we pay homage to the world’s wonderful wetlands with a tour of swamps, bogs and marshes.
