This week’s eco@africa is once again full of environmental news and new green ideas.

We start our journey in South Africa where we visit the Clothing Bank. It is a social enterprise to help women become independent, but at the same time it is trying to reduce clothing trash through repairing, mending and recycling efforts.

After that we are off to Norway to see why the Norwegians are at the head of the class when it comes to eco responsibility. There the market for electric cars is growing and last year around 24 percent of all new cars there were e-cars.

Back in Africa we see why some national parks in Ivory Coast are under threat and how an NGO is teaching local villagers how to collect medicine, food and firewood from the forests in a sustainable way.

Next we introduce a new documentary film “A Plastic Ocean” which shows the consequences of our carelessness. Then we visit two social entrepreneurs who are bringing back the old tradition of producing handmade books to Ethiopia. Finally, we investigate if “terra preta” can save Burkina Faso’s farming industry?
